20 Years of Exceptional Craftsmanship

Welcome to NC Carpentry Services! I’m Nick, and I’ve been a carpenter for most of my life. I cover East Kent and the surrounding areas, including Thanet, Herne Bay, Whitstable, Canterbury and further afield, although my workshop is currently in Herne Bay.

My grandfather was a master carpenter, and I learned the trade from him. I’ve been passionate about working with wood since I was a child – I was always fascinated with my grandfather’s work and would often join him in his workshop when I was young. This hands-on approach to learning the craft with someone that I cared deeply about really instilled a great level of pride in what I was doing, which I maintain to this day. I worked very hard to learn everything I could about carpentry from a young age – I started out at my carpentry career 20 years ago and worked long hours to hone my skills. I am now a highly sought-after tradesman and have been working as a top-level carpenter & joiner for various reputable firms for over a decade.

Much of my time working as a carpenter has been spent within customers’ homes, or working with developers and architects on new builds. This entails working very closely with clients to ensure that their needs are met, and their expectations are managed. A professional relationship with clients is paramount in this business, and I strive to ensure that clients are kept informed at all stages of the project, and that their requirements are met to the highest possible standards at all times.

My carpentry style is modern but timeless with and industrial feel, although I can just as easily turn my hand to more traditional furniture and fixtures. I am a perfectionist by nature - I have developed a reputation in the industry for exceptional attention to detail and very high-quality finishing and I’m not satisfied until the items that I’m working on are perfect.

Throughout my time as a carpenter & joiner in Kent I have worked with various building and carpentry companies, doing timber framing and first and second fix carpentry on new builds and current structures. For the past 10 years my focus has mainly been on traditional joinery and second fix carpentry and joinery, including cabinetry, finishing and furniture making.

In 2016 I was part of a small team who repaired the structure of a barn in Kent – the project went on to win Bronze in the WhatHouse? Awards Best Renovation category.

This is an ever changing and growing industry, and as such I also spend time keeping up to date with the latest trends and methods used in the trade. I regularly visit trade and tool shows, and have a very large contact pool within the industry – I spend a lot of time discussing and researching new and up-and-coming woodworking techniques and tools with colleagues, and spend my free time designing and building furniture for friends and family, as well as for my own home.
